WELCOME to All Saints Church, Woodham

We are a liturgically-rich church and we place a significant emphasis on the Word, the sacraments, and liturgy. We aim to be inclusive to all and love one another.  We are a member of the Church of England, in the Diocese of Guildford.

Receiving Communion or Blessing

If you are in good standing with your own church, you are very welcome to receive with us.  If you wish to have a blessing, please come forward and keep your head bowed and the priest will give you a blessing.  We encourage all in church to come for communion or a blessing. 

 

We use the Common Cup.  You may receive by intinction if you wish to. We have gluten free wafers on request.

DATES FOR THE DIARY & INFORMATION

 

HYTHE SINGERS OPEN REHEARSAL

An evening for singers who would like to come and sing with The Hythe Singers, an experienced and friendly Chamber Choir, who give concerts in cathedrals, churches and other venues home and abroad.  An Open Rehearsal is this Wednesday, September 11th, 7.15 for a 7.30pm start at St Jude's School, Bagshot Road, Englefield Green TW20 ORU.  Music will be provided.  Sight reading helpful but not essential.   

Their Winter Concert is on Saturday 30th November at St Mary's Church, Thorpe and will include works by Tallis, Howells and Handel.

JO CARTER’S FUNERAL AT ST MARY’S THORPE

 We are sure many of you will know Jane Carter (Jo's widow) who regularly attends here at All Saints as well as at St Mary’s, Thorpe.

His funeral is on Tuesday, 17th September at 12 noon at St Mary’s, with refreshments afterwards in their parish room.  This is followed by a burial at Englefield Green Cemetery at 2pm.

 

CHARITY REQUESTS

At their meeting on Wednesday 18th September, the PCC will be deciding on the charities we will give to over the next 12 months.   If you have any requests, please could you send them to the Parish Office prior to the meeting.

CHORAL EVENSONG FOR FEAST OF ST MATTHEW – SUNDAY 22ND SEPTEMBER

This evensong will include music from Herbert Sumsion & CV Stanford.   Please invite anyone who may wish to join in with the choir or attend the service.  Rehearsals at 2pm, refreshments from 3:15pm with the service at 4pm.

 

REPLACEMENT LIGHTING WORK IN CHURCH

Work to renew and replace our lighting in the church will start on Monday 23rd September and is expected to take 6 weeks to complete.   Mid-week services will be held in the Parish Room whilst this work is underway.  However, Sunday services in the church will be unaffected.

 

ST MICHAEL’S PATRONAL SERVICE

This is on Sunday 29th September and will be at St Michael’s Sheerwater at 10:30 a.m.  with tea/coffee and cake after.

There will be NO service at All Saints that morning.

 

ANOTHER FACULTY APPLICATION

The Vicar and churchwardens, with the approval of the Parochial Church Council have applied for a faculty to move the Sanctuary Lamp from in front of the Aumbry in the Lady Chapel (where the reserved sacrament used to be kept), to in front of the Aumbry in the Sanctuary (where the reserved sacrament is now kept).

Full details are in the South Porch, with the details of how to submit objections by the deadline of Monday 30th September. If you have any questions, please speak to Adrian.

 

CONFIRMATION CLASSES

There will be a short Confirmation Course looking at the Lord's Prayer on Thursday 3rd, 10th, 17th & 24th October at 7pm, in the Parish Room. Anyone may join this course with those being confirmed, if they wish.  Please let the Parish Office know if you are intending to come.
